Keeping watch on a long, sandy beach, the lighthouse warns those who may be straying too close to shore. This lonely guardian has stood through all weathers since 1776 but now without a purpose, it still guards and watches the wild seas.
The Guardian photograph was taken at Talacre in North Wales. Talacre lighthouse is said to be haunted by a former lighthouse keeper.
